XF 1.5 Installation error

Why am I getting the following error:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

I've checked the server several times and it says no problem. I checked a dozen times the user name/database name and password are correct, so what is happening please.

Try entering the host as 127.0.0.1 rather than localhost.

Thanks for that, I gave it a go and now get error: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)

This may indicate that the MySQL services are not running, or similar. As it's a server issue, logging a ticket with your host is recommended.

Did you grant the username permission to access the mysql database?

That would usually be a different error. This suggests the connection isn’t being made.

I've change from 'localhost' to the server IP address, installation completed and all working fine now.
