All members of our forum have to sign up to view the forum. You have to login to see any of it and the forum is not indexed by google. Even if it was indexed google couldn't crawl the content anyway as it's behind a login wall. But anyway.

I would like to create a knowledge base within the forum with how to guides etc on our forum topic. This I would quite like to be indexed and open to everyone even if they are not logged in to get some content on the search engines and hopefully rank for it. People can then go to that page and then if they want to use the other sections of the forum, then have to sign up.

Your help pages are visible to guests so you could create custom help pages and add it there.

Err maybe. But I don't want to stick it all within the help pages.
Can I create a new version of them called /knowledge-base that works in the same way?

That would require an add-on or custom development.

Ha, that is what most of my threads on here end up with you saying! No problem, thanks.

Well, you could approach your permissions somewhat differently (explicitly denying access to certain nodes) and do what you want as page nodes. This may be more difficult to manage though.

Ok thanks Mike. Will have a look into that.
