Improve the trophy system and gamification of Xenforo

Hello,

I have some suggestions for improving the Xenforo trophy system and generally increasing user interactions and forum activity, i included more improvements in the discussion because it is a 360-degree look at what should be done to the trophy system:

• Allow categorization of trophies so that the trophy page is more ordinated
• Show a progress bar for each trophy, so as to show how long until the next goal is reached
• Show the % of users who have achieved that trophy compared to active users/registered users
• Show the trophies achieved by the users we follow
• Send a notification when a user we follow gets a trophy
• Allow us to assign a rarity to trophies so they are more exclusive and allow us to show on the trophy page and in the postbit how many trophies you have of the various rarities
• Allow us to make trophies temporary, if a user no longer has the necessary characteristics to have that trophy it will be removed from them

Some of these features are present in addons and other platforms; I don't understand why Xenforo's “off-the-shelf” system has to be so barebone. The engagement of a community is a key statistic in keeping a site active. So features that increase this metric should be as comprehensive as possible.

• Introduce a new profile page or Widget: "User Statistics"
• Improve the "followed users" interactions and notifications

Third party add-ons for a core functionality like this became a critical liability. Entire User Progression systems depends on Trophy Points and awards, and I think is unacceptable.

Gamification is the first free gratification you can grant to your users to engage with your community.

You can promote the well-being and the good behavior of users with a more complex Trophy System.

And this system is neglected since Xenforo 2.0. Is time to flesh out this core functionality.

I would absolutely love improvements to the trophy feature. I have members on my forum requesting this. They especially like the idea of seeing how many people have a specific trophy and beign able to see which ones they can still earn on the trophy page.

Not sure how I missed this suggestion before but I agree 1000%! Anything that's incorporated to increase user engagement needs the upmost attention to detail and, I also agree that the current trophy system is a little underwhelming.

Like you said, it would be neat to be able to see the percentage of members who have a specific trophy, and also your progress towards a specific trophy.

I'd also add to this and say the ability to add different images/badges/icons, or whatever you wanna call it, to each one, similar to Xbox achievements.

I don't use it myself. Most of my original users were against it so the whole thing is shut off. But I know sites that do and would have no problem seeing an overhaul done at some point. Maybe that would get me using it. So I upvoted.

I like all types of gamification. Many forums need it for engagement because it's another way to encourage users to be active and make using a forum worthwhile. Invision Community already has this built in because they know it's something that shouldn't be overlooked. I think almost everyone likes achievements and uses them to improve their profiles or gain more permissions on a board. I myself really like using Ozzmods Badges as a way to extend Trophies. But it would be great if the Trophies themselves could be more customizable, with some kind of XP bar for reaching certain Trophies and more.

Ozzmodz badges has been a life savior for our forum. Xenforo should look into bringing that addon into the core imo

As much as I don't care for the site, Reddit has a nice system with their posting streak setup, it keeps users active and wanting to reach their goals.

Some third-party addons are so good that they should be part of Xenforo's core because they simply add functionality that becomes very useful.
