Importer affect source?

May be a stupid question .... Does the importer write to the source database or affect any of the source of the conversions files?

Just asking as I want to shut my forum down for an hour and test a conversion from my current. I do backup regularly but not sure if I can be bothered restoring a backup if I can avoid it LOL

The import won't affect the database you are importing. All it does is grab the information from the database and stores it into the XenForo database. Your original database (be it vB/IPB) will not be altered.

The source is only accessed for reading purposes. It remains entirely unaltered.
