XF 2.3 Import / Create users by email address only

I have lists of forum members from an old forum I shut. 23,k accounts. And I'd like to import them to an existing forum.

Is there a way to do this so I can set them all up an account, and allow them to change their usernames once logged in or something. So perhaps have them numbered or alphabetised or something?

Not sure how this could be done but somebody surely has had this problem before.

I assume that that old forum was also xenforo? If I am right in my assumption, what version was it? If it was a very old version the database structure might be different from the current version. The old forum must be upgraded to version 2.3.7 first and only then you can perform a merge of both forums.

Ooooo so get it online as a forum then merge. YES XF only these days eh.

Even from 2012 did XF start, my forums been xf.

Do you have the option to merge just users. And just forums not threads. Or whatever?

How does one do this?

Thanks so much for responding 😀 😊

thanks to ChatGPT I imported a very old forum with more than 1 million messages that was divided into three forums Snitz + PNphpbb2 + bbpress and I don't know how to program, I had to do a lot of tests, but in the end I did it.

That's good well done. All mine are XF and XF have an import system. So I just need decide which forum be the core one and import tge others (which i assume have thread ID changes?) And then use search console to confuse google a while when it tries to work out why threads have changed.
