We have bounce detection ability, now what is needed - especially with Hotmail placing a higher priority on it, is honoring the List-Unsubscribe header.
It could operate similar to the bounce feature, but if the option is used by the recipient, it would simply disable all email alerts sent to them from that point forward. It would be nice if it also provided them a notice on their next log in that they had been unsubscribed from receiving any email alerts due to their election to use that link on an email that they had received, in case they had done it without fully knowing what they had done.
