If XenForo's finished, what's next?

Yes, the title is pretty self explanatory as is the OP.

There are very very few people in the developed world where people stick with the same job they started with till retirement. Most people look for better opportunities, growth etc. But i can understand others who are complacent and have this trauma that somewhere else will be worse and therefore never step out of their comfort zone as a result of the fear.
Mental outlook.

I am with the same company, on an amazing salary, that I have been with since apprentice.

I enjoy my work and the company is great to work for. Why would I leave?!

I doubt Xenforo will ever be discontinued, given that it has thousands and thousands of active installations...
What's certain is that today, even vBulletin releases monthly updates, fixing small bugs and adding improvements, while Xenforo has been down for months... and that's truly sad...
He even put in Christmas-themed graphics, which is silly but at least it makes his presence felt by his community who pay to buy their license...

lol... I was coming here to say something along those lines... of course that ignored the legality of forking it, but someone could push out what are effectively new versions via a big addon.
I wish XenForo would consider pivoting to an OSS model like what nodeBB has done. Continue to sell the cloud offering and have paid support plans for those of us that want quicker turnaround on bug fixes (I'd pay for it).

I still find it crazy the homepage of xenforo has customer logos and when you click on them, it links to their community using alternative software to xenforo...

Would be the end.

Xenforo is very good software for the price. I'd willingly pay more for it so they could hire more developers and deliver quicker.

It would be hard for an open source project to have such a high quality.

I had a quick look through and most of the sites listed on the homepage still seem to be using XF from what I can tell. So maybe they are just not aware of it.

I'd pay more if they hired more people and expanded their capabilities.
And every year there's a presentation and a major update.
