I want to switch servers & domains but have no clue how to do that. Help?

I have this website that has blown up pretty fast, but the domain I picked is kind of poopy. I have another domain that I'm going to use for it. I want to take everything on the website I have right now & move it over to the new one.

I am also looking to get a better host than Hostgator. I don't know anything about hosting plans, so if anyone had a good one that they recommend that would be great.

So basically I need to know how I would go along transferring my website to a new domain & host. I'd be willing to pay someone, depending on the price, to help me also.

Okay now lets say someone found a link somewhere that linked them to a thread with the old domain. Would it redirect them to the thread they're looking for on the new site?

Hi Jabroni - if you are looking for a specialist forum host check out Nimbus Hosting - www.nimbushosting.co.uk. They host our site, and have been absolutely superb - they managed our switch completely (and for free!!) and get rave reviews.

The thing that is unique is that they specialise in forum hosting - and have even ironed out a few non hosting related problems we were suffering with!

Their packages start at £17.5o pcm for their starter cloud VPS package - and their customer service and superb performance makes it worth every penny.

Make a clean install on the new server and move the database over or the certain tables you want over.
