I regret buying VBulletin (6.0.7 latest version)

Your experience is colored by your being a proxy for someone who has gotten themselves banned from the community, and the fact that you have instigated and argued repeatedly to the extent that the people who are usually helpful want nothing to do with you, and are often having to correct you.

If you go into someone's house, and start causing a ruckus, they're not exactly going to be welcoming.
They are one and the same person. He was on theadminzone spewing lots of crap and when people caught on he came back as his true self.

I’ve seen evidence that there are two distinct people here. But the guilt by association factor is concerning, especially since some of said person’s opinions are - to my mind - not incorrect, but I feel like I can’t voice even a similar sentiment without also getting tarred and feathered.

After that whole Internet Brands fiasco, I never looked back. I was quite pleased even with the beta versions. I wasn't going to give them a dime.

I use vB6
I find that it's great for experimental usage only. Hence why i have it.
It's on it's reasonably priced cloud which i will be stopping in the next month so i can pay for this one on the annual cloud here.

I have used both Xenforo & VB the installer on VB is just awful they have made it very hard to install, I can install it, but for a novice who has never install a forum before they would find it very tricky to install and IPB prices have gone through the roof for me a hobbest their prices are insane and do they even do a selfhosted version anymore ? I don't see one

VB cloud hosting version is very cheap I could see a lot of people buying that even if it is rubbish as it is so cheap you could tolerate is being rubbish for that price.

I have not tried VB for over a year now but last time I used it was rubbish. IPB do not support plugins anymore I don't think that is a deal breaker.

@Gregsta Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the self hosted option. There's no doubt that they're moving towards cloud at very high prices though and there are strong rumours that self hosted will disappear at some point sooner rather than later. Yet one more reason to stay with XF.

I run lots of useful add-ons for XF so it would be a dealbreaker for me. I don't understand why they've removed that ability. Again, XF over Invision. The other thing I can't tolerate is their lack of post numbers. I've spoken to them about it and no way will they bring them back, not even as a switchable option that defaults to off. Seems to be some sort of weird ideology with them and quite the insult to their customers who pay them a lot of money for that product. That's a dealbreaker for me.

I'd take a guess and it is a guess, largely for the same reasons they are moving away from self hosting. The burden of support for hosting on their platform is almost certainly negligible compared to having to deal with issues that may arise due to problems with strange servers or add-ons.

last time i looked they did.
they just did not have a market place on their site or a a resource offering like xenforo does.
but there is another person that is running a site for developers to list their add ons.
i do not know how popular it is because i cannot afford it right now so did not look into it more.
