Ah but the distinction is hugely important because the feature in Invision is called Pages (or was when it was a separate product), so you can talk about Invision having Pages and be talking about a fully fledged CMS with a media library and custom content types that you define, or you can talk about XF having pages (NB, not capitalised) and talk about page nodes.
The preceding conversation was very much in the context of “XF doesn’t have a comparable first party content solution”, not “XF doesn’t have basic page editing”. It is entirely right and proper to point out that XF doesn’t have Pages even if it has pages, if you get my drift.

When I used it I don't even remember whether it had pages or not. I think it may have had something like that but it was very clunky, to even get them in some kind of navigation you had to paste some code into the page so you can't reference my experience with IPB as currently valid - it was probably close to 15 years ago.

I may well have pages that aren't as good as IPB pages. I certainly think xenForo pages aren't as good as e.g. Wordpress pages. I have probably in the past made a suggestion to have a WYSIWYG editor for pages. What is undeniable is that xenForo has pages. If you want to compare them with other software pages it might be better to mention that. I have no idea what IPB pages are like as I haven't used it for years and I found them impossible to use at that time.
Has xenForo got pages = yes
Are they as good/versatile/user friendly as IPB pages = not from what I have heard.

not really. they aren't usable, AND people really dont use them.
Xenforo LTD doesnt even use them.
A basic threshold for usable pages is ... will the native editor edit the pages ? The answer is No.
Lots of people use them. We don’t have many specific uses for them here but we do use them.

It's always been an awkward situation where Xenforo help pages aren't findable via search and are so far away from the forum people don't know they exist. Using third party software to accomplish something as easy as help pages is just a self testimony Xenforo pages aren't useful.

2% of Xenforo installs have deployed pages. My bad.
My criteria for "usable pages" is not hard. 1) The new tip tap editor can be used to create and edit pages, 2) a normal Xenforo thread can appear below the page, 3) pages appear in search, ideally with priority over non-page content. 4) Xenforo dogfoods it's own help manual.
and ideally 5) all the normal thread benefits are there for pages: moderation, alerts, bookmarks, replies, attachments, notifications, etc.

There is very much a case use for pages that combine both html and xenForo syntax. My only gripe is that I would prefer if there was an option for also a bbcode editor -the way WP used to switch between visual and text, but the fact that I haven't actually bought Xon's bbcode for pages addon is because I haven't found a need to. I may at sometime but most likely only if it was useful by my mods who wouldn't want to use html.
There is no need to be snarky. Absolutely I would if I found something better at a reasonable price. I don't hold back with either criticism or praise - whatever seems justified.
I've switched platforms several times, each time I found something that suited me better. Simple Forums > phpbb > vBulletin > IPB > xenForo.

You can add whatever you want to the navigation bar in the ACP, even route filtering to clean up the page's URL to look more "in place".
At least stand by your convictions. You're right. No one uses them. They are completely useless. You are not at all being obtuse
Can confirm. You voice criticism when warranted. But that's not enough in the eyes of some. You must completely transform yourself into an enemy of the people and continually remind everyone why you are more superior to everyone else because you've found what you deem to be a better forum solution and vehemently express negative opinions about everything else otherwise you're just a silly fan boy.

That entire site is built with XenForo, so this really isn't the own you think it is. That's literally an example of how we dog food the software. I'm sorry it doesn't use pages (it never will) but that's because we don't have to and we are dog fooding other stuff for additional flexibility.
Make that four, I heavily use pages on our implementation of XenForo as well. They leverage XF syntax, which makes them really flexible for use.
I would love to see the page editor have WYSIWYG support as it'd help greatly simplify management/update of page content, but to say other people do not use them is a gross understatement.
