    Hey everyone!

Thanks again for your continued help. My friends and I have run into an error where we can't get our .htaccess file to work. Not even the custom .htaccess files he's created. The problem:

The .htaccess file is being deleted automatically

Right now I'm trying to use this .htaccess file, but with no luck.
The same problem occurs even if the "RewriteBase" is commented or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of server? How are you viewing the .htaccess file?

Some FTP programs have a configurable option to show/hide hidden files like .htaccess files. Some client computers will also hide those files such as Mac computers.

I'll let my friend who's in charge of the server get back to you - though I don't believe it's hidden because he can't see it either.
We're both using filezilla, and I've never had this problem with other .htaccess files and filezilla...
I'm using windows, so it can't be that my computer is automatically hiding the file - I can see it normally in my own directory

If you're connecting to a Linux server - find the Remote file mask option in your FTP software and put -a in the box (which tells it to show all files).
