XF 1.1 How to remove 600 000 spam messages?

I just noticed my discussion forum has been hit with about 600 000 spam messages. Is there any sensible way to remove all of this spam and the users?

There are only about 100 actual messages and users. The rest is spam.

And no, the spam did not come there overnight. This is a site that was abandoned for a year.

How many spam users are there?

You can try running the spam cleaner (if there aren't too many), although it may struggle if there are hundreds of thousands of threads per spammer.

Yeah, the spam cleaner isn't really designed for that. You'd need to use the batch update thread tools, though they're not in 1.1.

But upgrading to 1.4 is probably best.

That says it's for XenForo 1.2 and above. The OP is on 1.1. If he upgrades to 1.4 he may as well use the batch update.

If its that old a database and, then I'd be tempted to delete threads and posts directly from the database and rebuild the search cache. Be prepared to break your installation though.
