How to keep Elastic Search running?

Hi Guys,

I wondering how to keep elastic search running on my server. I'm running CentOS 5.7.

The reason I ask is my users were reporting errors with search it turned out Elastic Search wasn't running for some reason.

I issued ./elasticsearch start and everything is working again but is there away to make sure the daemon is always running?

Is there a deeper issue there? I've had elasticsearch go down on me twice in the last few hours. Logs don't give me any indication as to why.

Nope, my Es instance has been running since December without fault.

When I look at how big my ES folder is, it shows as 1.9 GB. I only gave ES 2GB of RAM to use. Could it be trying to index new posts and running into a space issue?

You would get a memory related error in the ACP if that was the case.

When you log into ssh, is the ES serice actually stopped?

What d the Es logs in /elasticsearch/log say?

Try updating to Es 19.4

I found out a weird quirk - I was starting my ES instance within a Terminal window on my machine (via SSH). As soon as I closed the connection to the remote server, the ES instance was quitting.

A normal startup of ES worked fine.
