XF 2.1 How to disable "post thread" on forum homepage?

how to disable "post thread" (only) on the forum homepage, see attachment. In my opinion, it doesn't make much sense there.

Andy, I installed your remove-buttons AddOn and it works in the XenForo default style.
But we are using UI.X, there are the buttons are visible. Any idea, which is not conflicting with the UI.X style?
