XF 1.1 How to develop my site without disturbing the users?

I am almost ready to launch my new Xenforo.

Some of the Add-ons are not yet good enough to be added to my forum, but I would like to try them out as they get a little better.

My question is:
How do I test new layouts, add-ons and styles without disturbing the users on the forum with test threads, User Albums, XenPorta and so on?

Are there a funktion to close the forum for all except the admin og can I make a test installation in a secret location on my server?

Any advice is very welcome.

You can set up a test installation for this purpose.

Just ensure you abide by the licence terms if you set it up on your server.

How many installations can I make with a single license?
Each license permits you to install the software once. However, you may create a single additional test installation for testing purposes only. Any test installation of this kind must be password protected, and access to it must be limited to you and your website staff.
