I had one at over 12,000, but had to cull it because vBulletin was causing the server to crash!

Actually, my vBulletin 3.8 is handling this very well, it's all about the host.

It was because they kill off MySQL queries that take longer than a minute.

We used to have one at over 35,000 replies, but we eventually split it.

We now tend to split the large ones off after a while as no one is interested in the older posts on a day to day basis.

Ha, I feel so small now...

    Largest thread:
Replies: 3,370 with 36,466 views on VB 3.8.

There are a few others that are pretty close, but I guess nothing tops "Currently Listening To" ;).

Our largest got to ~5000 replies with ~650,000 views before being closed. However, we generally end threads after they hit certain lengths and then start up continuations. If we're counting that, then I'd guesstimate over 500,000 replies.

Title: The longest thread ever ?? (Well what else would it be called :p)

It's actually nowhere near the longest thread I've had running on a forum but it is the only active one now.

Aren't those threads too big to handle? :p Maybe start new ones every once in a while?

Mine hasn't presented vBulletin 3.x or 4.x with any problems at all yet. It'll be interesting to see what XenForo makes of it :)

I meant to handle as in moderating or following the conversations. :p

    Ah :D

Most of the users on that forum are very well behaved and as it's largely a spam thread most of what's posted in there is rubbish :D
