Yeah, maybe I'm old school but .com or a national TLD should be good enough for most uses. Some of the new ones are cute but oddly specific for general use.
Probably .com is still best overall, particularly for a business, but I think it depends partly on the content. If your site is mainly a fan site, or a discussion forum for books or movies or gaming in general, etc. - maybe an escort service, ha ha - then something like .club seems like it could be a pretty good fit.
I love them. My site name is Star Army and I was able to get Star.Army the moment it became available and now I got a short URL for my site. It doesn't get better than that, right?
