XF 2.1 Home tab for homepage

I was wondering if there was a definitive "right" way to set up a tab when using an XF page as a homepage. A home tab does show up by default when the "home page URL" is set, so I've just been setting that to match the board URL, and then using the tab that it adds for the homepage. Is that correct, or should a new tab be created, or does it not matter?

This. Seems that I'm out of date, had been using a portal system and/or widgets framework in the past. What's the best practice for xf 2.1.6+?
