XF 2.2 HEIC images

I've noticed lately that a large number of people are uploading HEIC images to my forums from their Apple devices, and they don't attach as images.

What's the deal with this? Is there a third party add-on or planned support for this. @AndyB, maybe you know something?

I have a new droid and it defaulted to heic. Our old forum wouldn't take them. Do they work on XF? What does it mean when they don't attach?

afaik, none of the browsers would load these images natively.

you would most likely need an addon that would convert on the fly. also from what i read, apple fixed the issue of on the fly conversion to jpeg a while ago. i guess it still does not work always! my samsung was also uploading heic on web apps so i stopped saving camera shots as heic.
