XF 2.2 Having a large amount of prefixes

Does anyone have any experience with using a large amount of (different) prefixes on their forum? For example having ~500 prefixes.
Any problems with performance or UI issues?

There would definitely be UI issues if a significant number of prefixes were available when creating a thread.

The list is not paginated so this would be massively long and just too unwieldy to navigate, especially on a mobile.

We have approx. 550 in our Forum organized in plenty of groups. Of course not more than 20 in one forum. No Issues.

If you are talking about something like listing every single car manufacturer, or country, custom fields is better for this. Prefixes are great for categorization at a top level, perhaps you can consolidate and also utilize fields.

That's the key to making it work.

Yeah you're gonna get the scroll bar after 11 I believe. I keep mine under 15 if I can.

What if you customized the prefixes to allow the user to search for prefixes? Then you would not get them all in a long list. You'd have just a search-field.

Yes of course, but then I would solve the problem above. (and then I would not have to use thread custom fields, which are less practical).
