Having a bit of a MESS HERE!

Can ya tell I'm stressed?

ALl of a sudden this evening, our site started messing up. There are no controls on the wysiwyg editor, many posts have the html tags in them (i.e. <p>, </p>, etc), the moderator controls are visible (you are supposed to have to click on the little box to see them), and a few other things.

Our board is HAUNTED, I tell ya!

See screenies below.

WTH???

I was having problems on the site too, but not seeing the mod bar all the time, just the weird posts with the HTML in and what not.

Edit... no I am seeing the mod controls all the time too.. argh!

FF here also.

I know y'all mentioned Firefox and IE but has it been tested in the other three major browsers, Chrome, Opera, & Safari? That should tell you if it is a browser bug or a file bug.

Also what FTP program was used to upload because there are a few that give out phantom files. It will upload the file but zero it out. CuteFTP Pro did that to me.

Just some thoughts.

At least you got graphics !! I can't even reply to you on the site in FF. Had to open IE. The more times I clear my cache, the worse it gets, rather than getting better.

At this point in time, all of the forum is shoved up against the left side of my monitor, no graphics, background, or anything. ALL of the links and text are just gobbledygook.

It's getting crazy. There has to be a solution.

If you are having cache issue you can try and disable it simply by typing about:config in your browser's address bar.

in the filter type: cache

go down to ...network.http.use-cache and double click it one time.

Adversely when you want to re-enable you double click it again. Any time you do either you must restart firefox or at least I do to be safe.

Hope this helps.
Just because I was waiting and had nothing to do for a minute.... http://xenxero.com/demos/firefox_cache/

I upload the zip file using Fetch. Uncompress it using file manager in cPanel and move the files to /public_html.
I have done it this way on 3 other XF forums with no problems.

This thread here I can't reply at all, I get the error I posted above when I try to.

But I can post replies elsewhere.
OK. Maybe it has something to do with cut and pasting into posts?
I replied twice on the forum, then went to the above thread and got the error.

I also see no avatar for the original poster.
Cleared cache.
Forum looks OK.
Click on post above and now the page is not loading the CSS.

I don't know if things are being changed, but the server is randomly returning 404's for things that should--and likely do--exist. For example, I can see http://lovemyjrt.com/js/jquery/jquery-1.4.4.min.js come up with a 404, though if I load it directly, it's ok. I had/have some issues with css.php, images, etc. It does seem to be that one thread that triggers it, but it's hard to guess why.

It must be getting better, because last night Dragonfly and myself couldn't do anything. There were no post boxes, the moderation bars were all over the page, everything was smooshed over to the left like in steven's post above, no images, no formatting, nothing. It was a mess. This seems to be happening every other day or so, last night was like the 5th or 6th time it's happened. AND we thought it was only in FireFox, but it happened in Safari for Dragonfly as well. IE renders the site perfectly.

It's haunted, I tell ya.
