So I just got a new dedicated at knownhost dedi 2 with the current promotion: https://www.knownhost.com/specials.html

Since I have two drives and I'm using backupsy for backups I'm looking to setup RAID 1 but the question now is whether to go for software or hardware?

If the "hardware" is the onboard BIOS "fake-raid" stay away from it and go software RAID. Not dependent on the MB then.

Hardware meaning a true LSI/Dell hardware controller.
