"Google May 2020 Core Update" affecting your xF Forum?

Just look at my profile, and look at the avatar. Search for the name in Google, and you'll surely find us
This one? Well then mobile not friendly it is. Very not friendly.
5 seconds to wait for anything jump out on a screen, 14s before you can open navbar...

forum is not much better

so it's not about content, page titles, or inbound links. it's about speed, layout shifts, largest contentful paint.
we solved the case! )

I wonder how many pages do you have listed as valid under Mobile usability in Search Console?
I have 20k listed as valid under Coverage and 2k under Mobile usability.

This one?
Yeah, that's the site.

Though I suspect that Web Vitals doesn't understand how to take into account demand ad networks loading.

We're looking into the performance stuff, but our performance has not changed.

It would surprise me if Google killed off 50%+ of our traffic overnight just because of that.

Also, we've done speed improvements on other sites, and it doesn't help the rankings at all.

My forum which is greatly affected by this... tested just the homepage

Desktop @96
Mobile @42
Yay

Someone here with positive double impression has... great Desktop and Mobile score.

Stock theme is nice, but you have no ads on that page
Yeah, this is what bugs me in general about all the tools. They don't seem to know how to contemplate the ad-network code loading.

There are plenty of high ranking sites that suck from a performance/usability pov, that load ads.

So I don't believe for a minute that Google would derank a site by 50%+ for performance that hasn't changed (improved or degraded).

Mine isn't big deal on red flag also
Wow, that's allota pages :)

that's why such a big drop.
It's hard for me to believe that Google would derank our site overnight for that alone.

It just doesn't make sense.

There are plenty of high ranking sites that suck from a performance/usability pov, that load ads.

here is my heaviest page. 3 AdSense ads, > 10 full image attachments. Still on a borderline dancing between 55 and 45. So the rest of my pages are firmly in orange zone. with 2 ads on each.

I have 2 secrets. 1st - my f awesome files are not 170k but 20. And second - mobile users don't load full size images, but their mobile versions instead, that are like 5 times lighter.
Why xF team can't do it to their product by default - I have no idea...
