Encounter on:
Upgrading... 1.2.0 Alpha, Step 5
Upgrading... 1.2.0 Alpha, Step 6
Now stack on Upgrading... 1.2.0 Alpha, Step 10
Almost 2 hours of 500 Internal Server Error/ Request Timeout Page, still not yet done.

How can I prevent this on happening under Shared Hosting?
Last time I upgrade my test forum using beta 3 and 4, didn't encounter this.

Yeah did that. But it says I am already on 1.2
It cant find the threads table anymore, so anything related to that results in mysqli server errors.
Its on my development server, so not a disaster. But hopefully it does not mean that I need to do a clean install and import everything again.

Your upgrade removed the threads table? My suggestion would be to re setup your development instance with your live site data and re-attempt the upgrade.

You may wish to run the CLI upgrade as well if you're afraid of timeouts. On large tables, there's very little that we can do to prevent that.

I had the same problem on a testsite (23 million posts). Not really interested in reloading a page 500 times so I just quit.

[edit]Will try the cli upgrade

I'll just do a fresh install and a new import after 1.2 gold is out. Will need to test the post edit history import anyway.
Where are the CLI import instructions?

Just run library/XenForo/Install/run-upgrade.php and follow the prompts.
