XF 1.2 Forum messages and discussion totals not updating

I have a test forum set up with an imported databases from vB. I just noticed after making a test thread that the forum totals of topics and posts (on the right hand side bar) don't update (unless I right click and reload). User post counts do update.

Is this by design? Why do I need to right click and reload in order to see an updated total of these?

Well now if I right click and reload it won't update the totals either...

The counts are updated with a cron job so they aren't up to the minute correct.
