As per the title, is there an add-on or style change which would allow the longer forum description to show in the main forums listing instead of as a hover (mouseover)?

    So instead of:

Forum I (hover over "this is our first forum and you better be nice or santa won't bring a present".

Forum 2 (hover over "this is the forum where blah blah 2 and this and that"

    It would be

    Forum I
this is our first forum and you better be nice or santa won't bring a present

    Forum 2
this is the forum where blah blah 2 and this and that

I guess we could call this more "VBB or IPB" style.....

    Disable the tooltip:

Admin CP -> Appearance -> Style Properties -> Forum / Node List
    > Show Forum Descriptions on Node List
    > Enable Forum Descriptions Tooltips

    meursault and craigiri like this.

The first image you have is not affected by forum description settings. The way you have your set, it shouldn't be displaying any forum description (check the first one for description display). The first image you have posted is thread previews, which, I don't remember a setting for.
