For what does Xenforo use Flash?

I browse through the forum and my Firefox asks me if I want to allow Flash content on this site. For what does Xenforo use Flash?

The file uploader. But this can be disabled to use a non-flash version.

So if you are on the ipad or iphone, then this is disabled automatically? Or will it cause errors?
