Other common approach is to have WordPress for blog articles which is free and available on most hosting providers. There are Xenforo/WordPress bridges to allow you to comment on WordPress pages when signed into XF and vice-versa or to cross post blog posts from WordPress to XF, e.g.:

These "big" add-ons (CTA, AMS, XenWord) are typically in the $50-60 range per year for updates and support.

No XF does not come with a blog, but there are some addons available for XF1.

Custom themes can vary, it's hard to put a price on one, but I would say 300-1000+ depending on the complexity.

Custom plugins can cost a minimal amount or an exorbitant amount, there are to many variables to even guess on that.
