XF 1.2 Extremely New... Having issues installing

Hey guys, I'm having some issues. I'm an EXTREME noob when it comes to this, so please be as thorough as possible.

I'm trying to get Xenforo fresh install installed on my web server. I connected via Filezilla to the web server and have uploaded the "UPLOAD" folder to root/public_html/www as directed by my webhost.

I can't seem to be able to redirect my browser to the Xenforo Install.

I have changed permissions to 0777 on data and internal data as well.

I have imported my database I had from my localhost install to PHPMYADMIN on the webserver.



What am I doing wrong?

Have you uploaded the upload folder or the contents of the upload folder? If you did the latter, then you're ok with this. If you did the first, you need to move the files from your www.yoursite.com/upload folder to your www.yoursite.com/ folder.

Try that first.

The database stuff we can talk about after you get the installer running

I uploaded the contents of the upload folder to root/public_html/www
I was uploading it to root/var/www but my webhost told me to stick it in public_html. I created the www directory myself. Could I have just dropped the contents of the upload folder into the public_html folder? Does it matter?

What do I redirect my browser to though? That seems to be the issue that I just can't process

go to http://yourdomain.com/install then and it should pull up. if Not Try http://Yourdomains.com/install/index.php

What browser are you using?

Try uploading it to public_html instead.

the www would just need to be www.yourdomain/install/ or if the server is configured right it should be like that.

I moved it over from root/public_html/www to root/public_html.

I tried
http://mydomain/install/index.php,
http://mydomain/install

got a The server can not find the requested page error

I've tried the same process on chrome and firefox. Both yielded the same results.
