Extra year support for base package

I was reading the pre sales FAQ about the added support. For now, I will be purchasing the program (and) the branding removal. Does the $40 extra year apply to this type of purchase or does the $40 extra year support only apply if I buy add-ons ? I assume this is correct as I did not see a check box for $40 extra year support for the base program only. Therefore, so, at the end of my 12 month, how to I obtain support, or do I then at the end of the 12 month period, buy support for a year at a time ? I hope I am wording this correctly.

When you purchase a license, 12 months support and upgrades will be included.

After that 12 months, if you wish to continue receiving support and upgrades, you will need to renew. The price for that starts at $40 for another 12 months. Some official add-ons if you purchase any will increase that $40.
