XF 1.5 Enhanced Search documents drop from 500.000+ to 290.000+

I'm using Enhanced Search and it works very well.

After first indexing it gave me more than 500.000 documents and I think about 230MB in size.

Now I have rebooted the server and the figures are much lower. 290.000 documents and 102MB in size.

I think the searches still work fine, but what could have happened?

290000 looks about right for your forum. The 500000 comes from Elasticsearch internally, so it may have had to do with how they do index merges over time (particularly when it comes to documents changing). As long as it all works, there's nothing to worry about.
