email confirmation doesnt get sent

Just testing my site and noticed when a new user signs up it does not send a verification email.

I have sent a test email from Admin area and no errors.

I have checked server log and no errors.

I have tried on multiple different email addresses and it doesn't work.

I have checked SPAM folder for each email address.

I have tried to resend verification email - it never turns up.

What else can I look at?

sure do, it says the email has been sent when you register but never turns up.

Can a user who doesn't receive the activation email receive an email you send from the ACP (ie to test one email address for both of these)?

You will have to check the Email Troubleshooting guide again, checking also the sections (linked on the main page) on if email is failing for some/all members.

ok so just to make the mystery a bit more..

If i reset the password the email comes through, but if I try to send a confirmation email it doesnt..

so how is that possible?

I had an issue a while back my password reminder kept re-adding my website password over writing my email password had to set it to ignore.

I had the same issue, setting the email function to use SMTP resolved it

Never had to do that before, thanks again everyone for the help.

I think it's something to do with the DNS settings for the domain when using the xenForo default settings but haven't had the time to look into it yet.
