Have you tested with the stock XF theme to confirm it is the theme?

Otherwise I'll need details about the theme and who provided it

• Have you optimized & rebuild the search index after installing/updating?
• Has the [ESE] Use auto-complete permission granted ?
  • Use the analyse permission feature do not simply look at groups!
  • By default this permission is assigned to the 'registered user' group on install, but if the primary user group has been changed then the default setup is not sufficient.

I have double checked everything and I don't see any issue.. Yes I have deleted and rebuilt the search cache, and yes the use auto complete has been given permissions to desired usergroups

Hmm, I'm on ES Essentials 3.17.4 and have rebuilt the search several times. I have also changed a few ES Essentials settings and saved. The mappings still show

The "optimize" button is broken because javascript in the admincp is failing. If you are using custom styling in the admincp, try disabling that add-on as something is really really broken

The XenTR themes you are using are missing XF2.3 search suggestion support which this add-on was updated to depend on.

ive noticed the same issue but everything "seems" to complete properly optimizing and rebuilding....then looking into mapping and its the same issue. we do use some addons but not "admin styling" exactly....not sure which addons to target but i will try some tests..

its something in the rebuild thats breaking it but seems to complete normally and auto suggest works etc....what is that error even referring to?

It isn't currently planned, but with the modern versions of Bob's add-ons search suggestion support should work with the autocomplete feature this add-on implements.

You have some settings I'ld recommend changing, some of them are just older defaults:

• Enable "on error log search dsl" otherwise search failures are next to impossible to debug:
• Title boost: 1.4
• Exact title boost: 2
• Weight by reply count (threads): 0.4

This will require a re-index to enable to 'Weight by reply count (threads)' feature, but it definitely helps.

Suggestion for a future release: provide a value range for these variables. Same suggestion for Search Improvements.

I might just adjust it so it displays the default next to the item, but tuning these suggestions is a real pain especially as it can heavily depend on the other option values.

As always I recommend my (free) Option History add-on to have an idea what the previous values where when tinkering with these
