As designed Editor - Edit Post

Try to edit a post and type something (or add some formatting like bold, italic etc.). Then cancel editing because you don't like the edit. Then click "Edit" again because you want to edit the original post in another way.

You'll still see your prior changes, although you've cancelled the edit and want to start your edit of the original post "from scratch". To me this is unexpected behavior.

This must be related to AJAX functionality because the cancelled changes are gone as soon as I actually reload the page. Regular forum users most likely don't know about these circumstances and get confused by this effect.

We decided this was the correct behavior, for a few reasons. Technically, certain browsers had issues with different approaches. In terms of usability, the button close to the submit-type buttons, so it would be easy to click the wrong one and lose your post. While I understand your position, I think it's going to happen infrequently enough that the other factors outweigh it.

I can see the benefits from this "unexpected behavior".
Would be nice if this behavior could be documented in some way (as a feature).
