Editing the Default Theme?

Is it fine if I edit the default theme through the templates page and style settings? Or is it recommended to make a copy of the default theme before editing it?

I see a revert option that makes it seem like editing the default theme shouldn't be a problem but it never hurts to ask first.

You can edit the default theme, no need to copy it as you can simply create a new default theme (create new style) at any time.
