XF 1.5 Don't allow threads, but allow replies?

How would I prevent threads from being posted in a node, however allow replies to them.

The below successfully prevents new threads from being posted:

However it also prevents new messages being posted to threads that already exist.

Is there any way to do what I am looking for?

You don't need to set the post replies to allow for the node, as that permission will be inherited from the user group, which presumably has it set to allow.

So all you need to do is revoke the new thread permission.
