when I sign-up at a XenForo-Forum, but not confirm my E-mail-address during registration..... do I actually see the Avatars of other members ?

Yes, avatars can be seen by guests and unconfirmed.

so I need to make "Usergroup: Unregistered / Unconfirmed" at "View" and "View Node" set to "Not Set (No)" ?

well, I tried just this and then it only shows the "Login/Sign-up"-fields..... does not look good.
