There are various settings in XF that can be set to unlimited. When set to unlimited the user interface will display things like:
Upload Limitations:
Max Allowed Files: Unlimited
There are many examples of this in XF and addons.

Mentioning non-existent limitations to the end user is pointless and only clutters the UI and confuses the end user. This doesn't match the KISS approach that XF has.
It would be good practise not to display non-existent limitations.

I would say that in most cases I think we do that, though there may be some exceptions. I looked for your example and I don't think it's from the core as I can't find the text. Do you have any specific examples of this? (From the core.)
