XF 2.3 DM's - Am I missing something?

I've been on XF for a few weeks now following our migration. Many DM's have gone back and forth but replies have generally come fairly quickly so I never noticed this before.

I messaged on of our moderators... I realized later that I needed a bit of information that I'd sent her that I'd forgotten. She had not replied to me yet. I went to my DM page and quickly realized that there's no "sent" messages... no trash, or outbox or drafts etc.

Is there no way to view one's own message that they sent before a reply is received?

A DM is essentially a discussion thread that is limited to 2 or more accounts.
I understand this. But once a message is sent.... the sender can no longer view their sent message until such time as the recipient replies? There is no record of the initial, outgoing message? So, for instance if a mod has to send a user a DM to tell them to refrain from rude posts, the user can ignore it, claiming they never received any DM?

There is a record, it should show up in your DM list after you send it. If it doesn't, you've got something else filtering the list or addon interference.

Should look something like this...

This is exactly the case. Just mocked this up in the xF demo. I have admin and created user named Freeman

I sent them a message.

And indeed, it ends up in the message list

On my site if I send a message, it doesn't appear in the list.... I'll keep testing.

Test with addons disabled and enable one by one to find if it’s caused by an addon. I’d first check with default theme though just in case that’s the problem.

There is an add on from @AndyB that allows you to see every message sent. Perhaps not a bad idea in your case to install this add on.

It’s called Direct message search or something iirc.

I contacted the mod on question via email. noticed that the issue is actually intermittent. It appears they didn’t receive the message and that it was not sent and I just didn’t notice, expecting that it had gone through. I don’t believe this is an XF issue… testing and watching closely it appears to be working.
