XF 2.3 Disable tags in node

There are two things I'd like to accomplish but unfortunately cannot. The first is to remove the tags field from appearing in certain nodes, both for input and output. For example, all forums about sports will have tags enabled, but the forums for fashion will not show the tags field when creating threads nor viewing them. I did not find such a setting in node permissions and the nodes only have a setting for a minimum required number of tags. As a result, the field is shown by default at all times.

I'd like to replace that tag system with something more structured that would resembling a mutliple prefix per node. Right now that seems to be managed by using custom forum fields, but both the input and display is flat, unlike a category structure which would be more useful, even if just a second level deep.

Honestly, I'm so dependent on Xon's addon now, that if I were forced to choose between losing its features and skipping XF 2.3 altogether, I would probably choose skipping 2.3. That's not hyperbole, just a plain fact. And 2.4's features would have to be pretty damn compelling for me not to be willing to skip it, too. given the same choice. ;)

I think this was about the Resource Manager

for forums, not just RM.

Multiple Prefixes!

Ever run into a situation where you want to prefix a thread with multiple tags? Now you can. All the same features still work, clicking a prefix shows all threads prefixed with that same prefix. Searching for a prefix will show all threads that contain that prefix (plus the other ones it has).

Supported content types
  • Threads
  • XenForo Resource Manager; Resources
  • DbTech Shop's items
  • DbTech eCommerce's products

Thank you. I did see multiple prefix and believe I may have had this installed in XF version 1 and not just Resource Manager. @Xon addons are absolutely top notch and they are essential. The only challenge I have with this one is that I think it may enter prefix data a little differently than standard XF? I was going to ask what would occur if this plugin was disabled. I also think it's an all or nothing addon - you can't have it only for one addon (like a resource directory) but not for forums.

The prefix system as designed does make sense for a taxonomy classification if you don't want to see the same thread in 3 subforums. It doesn't work so well when you're organizing other related things such as directories.

I still do wish we could disable tags easily from nodes even generally since they are easily useless if uncontrolled tightly.
