Hi there,
it would be great to have a differential import in my case from a vb4.x forum.
if you have a bigger community and only a few coder than it could take a long time to migrate.
to test all sections, permissions and show the new forum to a few member to find more bugs or hints what we can to better - we import the full content.

Later it would be great to only import newer posts, members...
because we have the import_log it should be possible to only select ids that not has been imported yet?
this diff import sould be much faster too - so the site would be closed a shorter time while switching the codebase.

Why not prune users and posts before starting the import? Backup up the full vB database first of course.
Because "pruning" to speed up an import would do irreparable damage to a sites content and serp.
He would still have a backup of the full database for when he does the final import.

But the final import is the "problem"?
When i have >1.5Mio Posts it take time to import this. As i have imported the full db today actually the xf-forum has all postes.
if i`am ready to disable vB and enable XF for all users maybe in 6 Months i have maybe 30.000 new posts.
So it would be greate to migrate only 30.000 posts in a few minutes and a few new users instead of migrate all posts?

yes maybe i could cleanup the vB Database and delete all posts bevor x and users registred bevor etc. and if i have problems i coulde restore the full old Database - but to delete data on the production system is not a "normal" way to solve problems for me.

How many posts do you have exactly? A 1.5-2m post forum should only take around an hour.

the full import was 1:45h - but with setting a few new permissions and options etc. the full migration take more time and the list with steps that should be done after migrating the content become even longer. So converting custom bbcodes after the migration for example.
i found a few more posts they asked to do a import again without dublicates - what maybe could be less more interesting if we could import only changes since the last import.
