Democrats Versus Republicans

Here in the US, this seems to be more important that actually fixing anything.

Democrats want to give power to the government, and Republicans want to give power to the rich, while both are saying "it's for the people...". I'm so sick of this...

When are we going to solve real problems together like sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, not using toxins within our foods, and actually focus on curing disease instead of prolonging it for profit?

Anyone else see this, or is it just me?

And I was going to get an early night too... ;)

The worst kind of politician is one that actually wants to be a politician.

It's a double edged sword. I don't think you will find many people disputing that we need alternative fuel except for big industry. I think people want alternatives as long as it doesn't cost them more money.
Sure, we want jobs to stay in the US. Are we willing to shop American and not Walmart? I feel few are. Do we want food with less chemicals and a shorter shelf life? Do we want to eat fruit all year round. I remember seasonal fruit. That is a thing of the past.
Everyone wants change, as long as it doesn't effect them. There is no easy answer. When it comes down to it, those with the deepest pockets win.

This is an interesting thread and I do hope it doesn't become another party bashing thread with snide comments.

It is unbelievable that in the US you can chose from 100's of cars, shoes, banks, healthcare, etc, but only 2 choices (basically) to run our country. The same 2 party system that made us great, ironically, will/is killing us in the end. It is time to evolve from the 2 party system and I believe it is just a matter of time before that happens. It has to be.

Everyone becomes independents, yes!

One problem I think we have are that many people vote across party lines regardless of the candidate.

I went searching for the last time there were more than 2 parties of significance.

Other than democrat or republican
1968 American Independent with George Wallace
1948 States' Rights Strom Thurmond
1924 Progressive Party
1912 Progressive and Socialist Party
1892 Populist Party
1860 Southern Democratic and Constitutional Union Parties
1856 First mention of Republican Party and Whig-American Party
1852 Whig and Free Soil
1848 Whig and Free Soil
1848 Whig
1796 Democratic-Republican party

So I wonder why the republican party endured and the Whig and Free Soil parties did not?
1789 and 1792, George Washington, unopposed.

I hate both of these parties. ugh. I refuse to vote for anyone based on their party affiliation.
I am independent and vote for who I think will be the best president. Much to my dismay, I've been wrong more often than right.
Note - I did not vote for our current prez.

Ladies and Gentleman of the United States of America. You do not have a choice...you have the illusion of choice. What you live in is a system called a duopoly and choice is a misnomer here.

This would be SOOOOOOOO beneficial to the US in terms of choice, progression, survival, and civil harmony. No one can be mad voting under a system like that unless of course they like being mad.
