Democrats Versus Republicans

Don't want to get into the politics. Just bringing up that the electoral college doesn't always align itself with the popular vote.

That is exactly what I was implying lol..just worded it in a way that was befitting to my understanding of it. :-)

In other words I was saying you are exactly right and I agree...we just arrive to the same conclusion from different places and express it with different words.

It's a double edged sword. I don't think you will find many people disputing that we need alternative fuel except for big industry. I think people want alternatives as long as it doesn't cost them more money.
Sure, we want jobs to stay in the US. Are we willing to shop American and not Walmart? I feel few are. Do we want food with less chemicals and a shorter shelf life? Do we want to eat fruit all year round. I remember seasonal fruit. That is a thing of the past.
Everyone wants change, as long as it doesn't effect them. There is no easy answer. When it comes down to it, those with the deepest pockets win.

This is an interesting thread and I do hope it doesn't become another party bashing thread with snide comments.

Solar and Wind is an alternative that needs more attention and support, instead constantly trying to find ways to reduce oil costs. As for the food, there are organic ways of growing most produce year round. It just needs more attention I feel, but it's true what you say - Those with the deepest pockets wins.

There are a number of political parties in the US, not simply elephants and jackasses. The reason none are legitimate threats to the two-party system is that any emergent third party will have to siphon off votes from one of the other parties, leaving both too weak to win.

This is why the "tea party" hasn't organized as a third party, but as a faction within the republican party. In the same vain, you don't see an active Green or Socialist party, as they are well represented within the democrats.

What we really have are the parties within the parties.

The greatest irony is that if you took away the labels and simply presented the average American with a list of party goals, beliefs and objectives, most would choose the Libertarians.

In the end, the worst thing about politics is politicians.
