Demo ACP error

@ozzy47 users were reporting this on their forum. It's just a safety measure I believe so that users have the right URL in their customer area. There was another issue users were reporting which is from uploading different files from different licenses and not the correct one which gave them a similar message in a different form. Just something I read up on though I'm not 100% sure, just from reading other posts it's what it looks like to me.

I am sure it would be better for potential customers to not be greeted with a giant error their first visit to a XF ACP. Also it is not a "test" install it is a "demo".

Again, it is a test installation so the alert is to be expected. Just ignore it.
So, you're either not bothering to read orrrrr you simply don't understand. Ozzy is reporting what a bad optic it is that this error is showing up in the ACP of the Xenforo official demo. The demo which is not a "test installation" is installed as a "model home" so to speak, for potential new customers to try out. He's not reporting it as an error he doesn't fully well know about or how to fix, he is reporting it because it looks bad.

It's analogous to a real estate developer showing a model home to potential clients, which has a leaky roof. It ain't a good thing to have when you're trying to sell something. But this is much easier to fix than a leaky roof.

I agree it looks bad. I also posted the same remark when I first tested 2.0.

But it is what it is, the XF crew told me to ignore it. So I do...

In my opinion you should be able to add a second (test)URL to your customer account so the alert disappears.

But it is what it is, the XF crew told me to ignore it. So I do...
Problem they might not realize is, they can't tell potential customers to "just ignore it." BUT they can easily just make it go away.

There's little doubt that when guys like you, me or Ozzy see that we already know what it is and that it's safe to ignore. Potential new customers probably do not know and might even just leave without saying anything to anyone. That's what bad optics do.

This was an oversight on my part as I used the wrong files when updating the demo. It is sorted now for new demos, and existing demos when they are next checked for upgrades.

Thanks. I figured the team wold not want potential customers to see that in the demo. 👍
