Dead Link Management [Deleted]

Yes, have that add-on, its very useful. Guess I need to ask what I input to strip out this bbcode now. I don't want to be forced to keep this addon active to the end of time now.

This would be even better if we could search and mass delete domains.

Like Soundcloud! That's the worst one for me. I'm sure 90% of the soundcloud links on my site were dead, as people put up audio tracks then delete them a couple of months later (or Soundcloud deletes them)

Indeed!

To avoid the dead soundcloud links, I started using AndyB Audio Plus add-on.

I've put this on my dev domain and am testing it for now. I selected one forum with about 80,000 posts to see how it goes. It's been running for a few hours. When it says:

check new urls - 5,070

does this mean it has gone through 5,070 posts and it needs to go through another 75,000 more? Or does this mean out of the 80,000 posts in this forum it has checked 5,070 links. It's probably an indication of the total threads it is going through as I don't think I would have that many links in this particular forum.

I have 1.7 million posts so this might take weeks to run. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end but I may set up a stand alone computer to leave this running. Performance hit seems minimal at this stage as I have a 24core server and load is only 0.30 and memory usage under 40%.

It seems though that it should do a quick scan for urls and then test those urls, but it seems to be going through each post 1 by one (10 at a time).

*EDIT -ok it finished, I actually did have 6,000 links in that forum so all good. This shouldn't take as long as I thought.

@au lait Can you fix this in the next release?

I also had a problems when there was a post with multiple 404's, when I selected those to replace them with DLMURL's It only fixes one of them and the rest is still in the list. When I do that again another one is replaced. but never all of them.
Can someone try this and confirm?

And of course still waiting for the "Replace link with new link" feature that has been suggested is this thread. :)

I have a posts with 50+ broken links and it only removes one at the time even if I select multiple.
I have to do it 50 times per post to fix all the links.

Thanks :-)

Does this work now or is it a no go ? I don't understand why XF not has this build in, seems straight forward and logical to have this!

Can the developer of this plugin clarify if the forum mess up if we reomve the add on after we have used it?
