XF 2.2 Dark style as new or child?

Hey,

I want to create a dark style for my forum.

Since XF1 I am using the method of having my custom style as a child of the orignal XF one.

Parent Style (original XF)
---my_custom_style

My users are not allowed to use the XF style, only me which I use to debug things.

Now I have the need to create a dark style. What is the best way to do so?

I think exporting my current style to keep all the modifications is the best solution here, right? Then import it. While doing it, should I have it as a child of my current setup or should it be its own thing?

What is the best way to have it, so I don't have to do the same corrections in both styles all the time?

I made it a child of my custom style. Set it to dark and changed only two colors. Finished.
And do this on your test site so you know it works before the live site.
