Custom Design for Thread Prefixes

I came across the below custom thread prefixes' design on xfshowcase.com. They are really attractive. May I know how can I do that? I am no good at things like coding/CSS. Not sure how I can achieve that.

There is actually a thread there that tells you how to do it. You'll find it if you do a little searching.

I was searching through the forum as advised by Ernest and found this link showing the code [with copyrighted to stewart1champ]. And then I actually got the answer faster than searching for it. Seems like I gotta practice more
