XF 2.1 Cron explanations

Is there anywhere that explains what each cron within the AdminCP is addressing? This seems to be one of those things everyone knows and works with...but for those of us that don't know, a more basic explanation would be helpful. For example, it seems folks get their notices and alerts updated hourly...and I can't tell where to edit this to be more frequent if that's what we wanted to do. Thanks.

There isn't a definitive list and I'm not sure what you mean by notices and alerts being updated.

However, rather than editing the core cron entries, you should create your own duplicates and disable the core one.
