XF 1.5 Cron entries / tasks not running?

Hi guys,

I noticed a few things were weird last few days, like the newsletter email didnt come on saturday and forum statistics not updating.

I then read some threads and looked at the cron entries and noticed all of the next run dates were several days ago ie April 6.

I manually disabled and reenabled the cron entries which made them run but now again the next times are in the past and the hourly jobs don't look like they're running.

No idea what caused this, not installed anything new recently or made any changes to the backend. I'm running xenforo 1.5.16.

Any help trouble shooting this would be much appreciated.

EDIT TO ADD: I just ran a file health check and got this:

deferred.php
File not found.

Well, obviously a file is missing. Backup your stuff, download a fresh copy of XF and reupload those files.

I reuploaded the missing file but today the same file is missing again??? this is slightly concerning.

So something is deleting the deferred.php file?

Anyone come across this?

If the file is being deleted from the server then you will need to check the server logs to determine who/what is doing that.

Your sysadmin or host will be able to help with that.

Noone is deleting it so I guess it's a virus of some kind on the server, for the time being the host has muted the file so it can't be located or deleted and this seems to be working for now.
They are looking into server logs to check the cause.
