@HWS Not necessarily. Mike has said that there are things where the Template Modification System can't work. Deprecated doesn't mean you can't use it. There are times where it is the only way to get things done. In this tutorial, I agree it's not needed, but at the end of the day it's a tutorial. It's not meant to be released into production, it's meant to help newer developers get an idea of how things work, and it is pretty damn old.

March 6 he said he'd look into it - but personally I'd say this tutorial is great to give you the basics. You should be able to apply knowledge of, say, the TMS system and learn about that yourself and be able to compare the two. I used this tutorial as a base, but I went straight into the TMS system since it's so easy to work with.
